Distance Education - More Accessible than Formal Education

In order to climb the career ladder you may find you need extra qualifications to give you the boost you need, but in order to obtain them you need to take time off work.  That's not the case any more thanks to distance learning courses.

Distance learning courses allow you to study in your own time in the comfort of your own home or at work should your employer allow.  Distance education or home study courses are available in a variety of subjects, just like formal education courses, so whatever you need a new qualification in there is more than likely a distance learning course for you.

Whether you are looking to gain some additional GCSE qualifications or A Level qualifications, or something more specific like web design qualifications, child care qualifications or health care qualifications in order to climb your career ladder there are a wide range of distance learning courses and home study courses out there for you to enrol on.

There are many reasons why people look for distance education and home study courses instead of formal education courses, but perhaps the biggest reason why distance learning courses are so popular is because they are usually less expensive than enrolling at a local college.  Another major factor why people opt for distance education is because they allow students to keep a job and attend school at the same time.  Many students who sign up for home study courses are full-time professionals with serious careers and are looking to climb the career ladder.

Juggling school with a full-time job is a lot easier with distance learning courses than with formal education, as they provide the flexibility to study from anywhere, follow your own schedule, and work at your own pace.  This is a far cry from the watertight schedules that classroom-based programs follow.  This means online students can continue working at their full-time jobs and bringing back home the same paycheck that they were before starting their distance education, ensuring that their education does not cause any major financial upheavals in their life.

Another advantage of home study courses over formal education is that many companies are willing to invest in their bright and promising employees.  If you are able to convince your employers that the skills and training you receive from your home study course can benefit them, then they may agree to fund part or even all of your education.

Distance Learning Centre is one of the leading and longest established suppliers of distance education in the UK and, with our popular combination of supported open learning and innovative course materials, students are guaranteed an exceptional learning experience which will help them on their way up the career ladder.

GCSE and A Level Home Study Courses

Leaving school without any GCSE qualifications can be a huge handicap when it comes to gaining employment with plenty of careers being unavailable to people without GCSE qualifications.

GCSE exams have been designed to develop and test skills which will be relevant both for further study and in the wider world of work. It's what you can do rather than what you know. This makes them perfect for studying by distance learning. When you enrol you will be provided with one of our comprehensive study packs. Each course pack has been written to cover a specific GCSE syllabus and approved through the appropriate examination body so you can be confident that your home study course will cover everything that you need in order to pass your examination.

A Level exams are the Gold Standard of the British education system and our abilities, even in later life are still measured against it. Because A Levels are usually studied over a two year period each syllabus is divided into two halves or “AS and A2 Levels”. Whilst each half covers approximately the same amount of material, the conceptually harder elements will nearly always be found in the second "A2" half. Generally, AS and A2 will each consist of two units. Each unit leads to a corresponding exam.

GCSE and A Level home study courses can be the ideal solution for people who want to gain qualifications whilst studying from the comfort of their own home.
